9 Creative Valentine's Day Crafts for Kids

Valentine’s Day is almost here! If you’re looking for a few last minute art activities to try with the kids – here you go…

Heart art

1.     Sensory soap holiday art and science. What child doesn’t love the magic of expanding Ivory soap? While it’s engaging enough on its own, combine it with heart art and you’ve got a textured sensory holiday project!

2.     Felt lacing gift bag. Do you need something to put holiday goodies in? Why not have the kids make their own DIY fabric gift bag? This no-sew felt activity works out your child’s fine motor skills with a little lacing lesson.

3.     Heart garland. Art + math = fun! Shape and pattern come together in this decorative activity.

4.     Heart cut-outs. You know those hearts that you cut out to make the Valentine’s garland? The rest of the paper (the part that went around the hearts) makes a pretty nice project itself.

5.     Finger paint with clay. Try something different than regular finger paints. Your child can create a textured heart (with glitter too!), using modeling clay as if it was paint.

6.     Heart print. Cotton balls, a little cardboard, some brightly-colored paint, and your child has a textured printing plate ready to go!

7.     Symmetry hearts. Back to math again. Make a collage of heart halves – your child can look for the matches and puzzle them together.

8.     Glitter resist. One heart and a whole lot of glitter!

9.     Scented Valentine’s Day heart paint. Peppermint and fruity flavors. Yum!!! These easy DIY paints combine science with art.

  2. The antique treadle machines usually work great but you want to concentrate on learning to sew, not on working the treadle. quilting machines
